The new building (officially named Te Rau Mātāpuna o Taranaki) forms part of Project Maunga - a long-term plan to improve infrastructure at the original 1950s campus with a focus on more integrated and efficient patient care.

Inovo services on the NEWB project include detailed project planning, programming and stakeholder engagement in a complex, live healthcare environment. We created a Clinical Commissioning programme with a wide range of client stakeholders, including extensive interfaces with the main contractor works. Internal user groups and stakeholders needed to be explicitly consulted and engaged through the design process, particularly through clinical commissioning.

Early Contractor Involvement was utilised as part of the planning, procurement and delivery of the work. Regular site meetings were facilitated, chaired and minuted by our team. This has very much been about collaborative planning and integration with other consultants and the client team.

Inovo prepared design, cost and project delivery documents for hospital and health specific design functionality and infrastructure, which requires familiarity with healthcare-specific technical design requirements.

The New East Wing Building is the first 5 Green Star rated public health building in Aotearoa New Zealand.
