The two structures are distinct but connected by two walkways. The workplace building is a laminated timber structure and corrugated iron structure, reminiscent of large farm buildings, connected over two levels to the laboratories building.

The workplace building has a modern office fitout that compliments the practical workspaces in the laboratories building. Additionally, the laboratories building has specific ‘physical containment’ areas that have required careful design and construction to mitigate any potential environmental or biohazard risks.

The sequencing of the build was broken into two separable portions to allow the Workplace building to progress and be completed and occupied ahead of completion of the Laboratories building.

Inovo has used their expertise in project timeframe management, breaking down key elements of the build into specific order and detail so that it could be accurately monitored during the construction process.

Across the road to the north of the campus is another phase in the project which comprises a state-of-the-art Ancillary Glasshouse Laboratory which also has physical containment areas.

Inovo’s attention to detail, their understanding of technical construction process and ability to monitor progress with the challenges of changes has kept these projects on track.  The new Workplace building is now being enjoyed by the Agresearch staff, with completion of the other buildings soon to follow.
