After 90 plus years producing rubber products from their Woolston site, Skellerup Industries relocated to the other side of town, constructing a new fit-for-purpose manufacturing plant.
A new 18,900m² facility was purpose built, requiring the relocation of the entire existing manufacturing plant without major disruption to the business operation.
Inovo provided project planning, programming and coordination for the fit-out of the industrial hall and phased relocation of the existing manufacturing process lines and support services to the new base build facility. Working within the Skellerup team in order to understand the technical and operational aspects of the various plant, Inovo developed detailed processes and quality assurance plans identifying the potential risks and an optimum sequence for the relocation of the major plant while retaining Skellerup’s ability to continue manufacturing throughout.
The complex factory fit out was fully designed and coordinated in 3D with multiple stakeholders. During the early planning stages of the project Inovo recommended the use of BIM technology to provide more accurate delivery on site and allow several streams of work to occur concurrently.
Inovo is delighted to have been recognised in August 2017 with a Gold Award of Excellence in the ACENZ Innovation Awards for our contribution to this project.
