This beachside dwelling suffered considerable damage in the Christchurch earthquakes, particularly to its heavyweight brick cladding.

The Inovo team assessed the three-level property, measuring and preparing floor plans and determining the structural and cosmetic damage. This information was presented to the homeowner in a comprehensive Scope Report, before a reinstatement budget was prepared. This included asbestos testing, CCTV work, roofing reports and engineering requirements.

The homeowner accepted the proposed reinstatement methodology prepared by Inovo and agreed to a managed reinstatement process, where Inovo led the project through to completion on their behalf, including the Christchurch City Council consent application and a procurement process to select a contractor to complete the works.

Construction commenced in 2017. Remedial works for the property included;

  • Removal and replacement of the heavyweight brick cladding

  • Significant replacement of the internal GIB linings including a new bracing plan to return the property to pre-quake strength

  • Foundation re-levelling

  • Removal and replacement of the standalone garage

  • Total internal cosmetic repair

The successful outcome not only resolved the earthquake damage but benefited the dwelling with significant structural and cosmetic upgrades.
