Inovo completed a comprehensive assessment and repair methodology before delivering the remedial works for this elevated dairy shed.
The extensive damage sustained by the approximate 600m² dairy shed and external radial yards included significant displacement of the concrete yards due to the failure of the raised gravel platform, as well as settlement of the shed itself that twisted the 72 bail rotary platform causing major structural issues.
Given the failure of the underlying gravel platform the only solution for this claim was a complete removal and replacement of the yards, shed, rotary and milking machinery and gravel platform.
Following Inovo’s assessment and recommendations to FMG, the landowner opted for a cash settlement; however given the critical structural integrity required by the repair, FMG requested that Inovo oversee the works.
The complexities of the project were compounded by the need for the new platform to be operational in time for the new milking season. This required considerable coordination of the various parties involved to meet the tight programme and frequent site visits to monitor progress, along with reviewing nuclear density testing results to confirm the pad was being constructed as per the design.
Following the completion of the gravel platform the new rotary shed and concrete platform were constructed as well as the replacement holding yards and services such as effluent treatment.
The shed was completed with minimal disruption to the operation of the farm and in time for the milking season as planned.
