| Value | $29 million |
The former Physics and Biology block, along with the adjacent Observatory Tower, will have a new lease on life as a 33-room, art-themed luxury boutique hotel.
Inovo has been engaged by the main contractor to provide planning services for the structural strengthening and repair of three adjoining buildings in the Arts Centre, known as the Physics and Biology block. The three buildings will be strengthened by the installation of new concrete foundations, new concrete shear walls, new structural steel members, new floor and roof framing which will enable new diaphragm floors and walls to be constructed.
The project also includes the rebuild of the Observatory Tower which collapsed during the quakes. The strengthened set of buildings will be refurbished with new services, internal partitions and finishes.
Inovo’s services include the development of a comprehensive construction programme, advice on the specific programming requirements and compliance associated with the main contractors’ Contract, programme monitoring and monthly updates.
