Earthquake damage at their existing site was the motivation for Skellerup Industries to construct a new 18,900m2 factory in the Wigram Business Park, dubbed Project Viking. Inovo provided project planning, programming and coordination for the fit-out of the industrial hall, and phased relocation of the existing manufacturing process lines and support services to the new base build facility.

The complex factory fit out was fully designed and coordinated in 3D with multiple stakeholders. BIM services delivered included point cloud surveying, services modelling, plant and design modelling, design team coordination, clash detection, 3D quantity estimating, total station coordinate delivery, modelling for operational use and run-throughs and 4D sequencing.

Careful planning, coordination and management was implemented to ensure continuation of the operational integrity of the plant, equipment and staff during transition.

Project Viking was named as the Supreme Winner at the 2018 New Zealand Commercial Property Awards, after being awarded the National Category Winner in the Industrial category and a Gold Award in the Value category.

Inovo is also delighted to have been recognised in August 2017 with a Gold Award of Excellence in the ACENZ Innovation Awards for our contribution to this project.
